Relationships

Taken from my Hypnotes Column in warrington-worldwide magazine

Who is the most important person in your life?  It is a simple straightforward question.  When I ask this question to some of my clients, they answer, my wife, husband, mum, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend, sister, brother, aunt or uncle and others besides. Often, far to often there is an omission from the list of important people, and that is usually ourselves!
The most important person in your life is and should be you! Only by being fair to yourself and loving yourself, and nurturing yourself, can you make the very most out of loving relationships with those people who are important to you.
This requirement for self-love is not arrogance, or selfish, it is more like self-preservation. Self-love is about caring for yourself as well as those around you. It is about knowing yourself, it is about taking responsibility for you, responsibility for the things you chose to do or chose not to do.

Psychologist and social philosopher Eric Fromm wrote in 1956 that to truly love someone else, you have to love yourself first. Of course this may sound flowery and 60’s type drivel to some readers, but is it?
Are you in a loving and happy relationship at this moment or are you going through the motions, are you realistic about your own strengths and weaknesses, or do you turn a blind eye to them. Are you stuck in old patterns of behaviour, beliefs and thought which could sabotage what could be a wonderful relationship, or at worst even destroy it.

Many people believe it’s easier to just put up with a situation, and keep quiet, rather than deal with their own issues. Many people would rather face a raging bull than admit they have issues to deal with! Old patterns can help us to avoid what needs to be addressed, it’s easier to shout and walk away, rather than listen and simply consider new options of choice and considerations.
We are the sum of our knowledge, life-skills, experiences and relationships. If we want to move on, if we want to break out of past behaviours and routines, we have to be brave enough to look inside ourselves and ask, if we do love ourselves and that means respecting ourselves and our skills and life history.

If we allow ourselves to remain in destructive thought patterns and behaviours, then those things in the past are still influencing us, still winning the internal battle.  But we owe it to ourselves, and those we love, to break out of that self-maintained prison and to begin to see the real opportunities which lay ahead of us.
And of course it’s okay to be unsure, scared, and vulnerable and all the other things we shy away from so readily when we know change is needed. So if you haven’t made a New Year’s resolution yet, consider making one that you will start to love yourself. And when you learn how to do that, you can really open up and enjoy the other important relationships in your life, enjoying the support, and love and caring which is given to you by the special people in your life, and learn how to return it too.  If you don’t know how, contact me, if you are unsure, contact me, and let me help you find the way.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Michael Mahoney meets David Mowat MP

Since 1991 I have been working with Irritable Bowel Syndrome sufferers. This common gastroenterological condition affects up to 1 in 5 of the population at some time in their life.

During March 2013, I met David Mowat MP for Warrington South at a business meeting, and briefly explained the work I do as a clinical hypnotherapist, researcher and developer of innovative health solutions, including my work in developing the IBS Audio Program 100

The meeting was understandably brief given the forum, however later that month I got another opportunity to explain my work in more detail and for a much longer time.

Mr Mowat very quickly understood the issues faced by this patient population, and was very positive in his encouragement for my work.  I was delighted that I was unhurried, I was listened to, and the MP asked important questions and understood the answers.  Clearly Mr Mowat understood the gravity of IBS as I explained the physical and emotional aspects of the condition to him.

I am delighted that my work and its benefits for IBS sufferers have taken a positive step forward today.”

When the editor of the local magazine warrington-worldwide asked David Mowat MP about the meeting he commented “Michael’s work is a fine example of what can be done with persistence and a dedication to those who suffer, while finding a possible innovative solution to NHS budget costs. It is encouraging to find dedication like this within my constituency.”

Clearly a postive step for IBS sufferers everywhere, I left the meeting impressed that this often forgotten patient population, had, finally been heard. while there is much still left to do, it is a good start!

IBS Audio Program 100 Discount

Since 1998 the IBS Audio Program 100 has been helping adult sufferers of Irritable Bowel Syndrome to reduce the physical and emotional aspects of IBS, and to get on with living a happy life, some users even walking away from the IBS symptoms completely.

This program was years in the making using specific hypnosis processes, I researched, developed, trialled and brought to market what is now the leading program of its kind.  Used by IBS sufferers in more than 45 countries, it is tried and trusted and available in CD Set or immediate MP3 download.

It’s like having your own therapist at home, but without the huge expense, the travelling, appointment times, traffic delays, time off work etc.

The IBS Audio Program 60 for Children (8 – 13 years) has been helping children with IBS since 2008, it uses different suggestions and imagery, but also uses the OPSIM method of delivery, as does the 100 program for adults, maximising the benefits of the recordings.

Stress Release Audio Program 80

Stress is rising, the effects of stress on individuals and businesses is taking its toll. Stress is ignored at your own peril; stress is no respecter of age, background or gender.

Poor coping strategies such as illegal drugs or excessive drinking of alcohol is no answer, and the medical profession have no magic wand to wave the problem away.

Recently we have seen redundancies announced at HMV, stress and concern for those being made redundant will of course be reflected in those who are to retain their jobs.  Other companies and organisations are reducing their workforce, the pressure of work, the thought of no work, the expectations of more work being given to those who remain behind all contributes  to increasing stress levels.

Families of those affected are also put under increasing stress. The economic side effects are lower productivity, increased absenteeism, higher costs through temporary staff covering and increased occasions of arriving late.  In the short term, stress may reduce the absenteeism in some organisations, but will it be maintained, or will it simply lead to higher stress and related problems in the future?

Stress is the outstripping of internal resources, by internal or external demands; whether they are real or perceived make little difference!   Stress however is much more than a word, or a few sentences.  Some people make an entire career out of understanding stress; such is the complexity of the subject.

In short, stress has to be understood, and managed to reduce it in a healthy and productive way.

The Stress Release Audio Program 80 was developed to aid stress reduction, to bring understanding of what stress is and is not, and to deliver a structured, gentle learning process to the listener.

Using hypnotherapy to reduce stress and bring understanding, options of choice and considerations to the listener, this home use audio program is the ideal aid in beginning to manage your stress and lead to a happier life.

Why let the stress rule you, potentially ruin relationships, careers and professions, when you can do something about it? And there is plenty you can do, if you choose to! The responsibility is yours.

Stress should not be ignored, if you ignore it, there are some pretty convincing research that eventually the stress may well be a contributing factor for other health conditions to develop. Again it’s your choice.

Please click this link to see the Stress Release AudioProgram 80 structure, read about its 14 interlinked tracks, and of course as with any of my major programs it comes with a user guide containing listening schedule and other relevant information.

PS
In my Equations in life download, I mention one equation in life, and that it;
From the legal age of adulthood, we take responsibility for what we chose to do. But because its and equation, there is another side to.  So not only do you take responsibility for what you chose to do, you also take responsibility for what you chose not to do!  Simple.

However if we develop some stress related illness or condition and we did nothing to prevent it, then we cannot complain about it, because it could have been avoided, but we chose not too!

Bad news on the High Street

The news of HMV going into administration, the closure of Jessops and the announcement of  800 job losses at the Honda plant in Swindon would make grim reading at any time of the year, but so early into 2013 employees and ex-employees face uncertainty and anxiety for their future, and that of their families. Confidence is knocked in the individuals abilities are questioned, increasing stress and leading to an increase of conditions such as IBS or irritable Bowel Syndrome which affects upto one in five of the population.

Some commentators believe other retailers will follow in the not too distant future, but it isn’t just the big names, smaller companies, the life blood of the country account for 47% of all private sector employment are also facing challenging time.

Employment uncertainty, increasing expectations and workload lead to higher stress, increased anxiety and other conditions such as IBS and depression and more besides.

It is up to the government to set the right agenda for businesses to grown and get the country out of economic mess we find ourselves in. Also the banks need to play their role in supporting business.

I believe also service industries such as mine, have a role to play in helping where we can.  For 15 years the products of Healthy Audio Limited have been helping individuals around the world to feel better and more capable.  We have invested years in researching and developing problem specific products to help and support individuals, which indirectly helps other businesses in reducing absenteeism, reducing recruitment costs, and socially our products help families and the wider society.

Today we are offering 30% off our IBS Audio Programs, in part to celebrate 15 years helping people in 47 countries, but additional discount simply to help.

Also we are offering 50% discount off our MP3 download ofLaid off Move On, our self help audio program for those who have been made redundant.

Of course we wish it could be more, but we are doing what we can to help. How many others are doing the same?
