Bad news on the High Street
The news of HMV going into administration, the closure of
Jessops and the announcement of 800 job
losses at the Honda plant in Swindon would make grim reading at any time of the
year, but so early into 2013 employees and ex-employees face uncertainty and
anxiety for their future, and that of their families. Confidence is knocked in the
individuals abilities are questioned, increasing stress and leading to an
increase of conditions such as IBS or irritable Bowel Syndrome which affects
upto one in five of the population.
Some commentators believe other retailers will follow in the
not too distant future, but it isn’t just the big names, smaller companies, the
life blood of the country account for 47% of all private sector employment are
also facing challenging time.
Employment uncertainty, increasing expectations and workload
lead to higher stress, increased anxiety and other conditions such as IBS and
depression and more besides.
It is up to the government to set the right agenda for
businesses to grown and get the country out of economic mess we find ourselves
in. Also the banks need to play their role in supporting business.
I believe also service industries such as mine, have a role
to play in helping where we can. For 15
years the products of Healthy Audio Limited have been helping individuals
around the world to feel better and more capable. We have invested years in researching and
developing problem specific products to help and support individuals, which indirectly
helps other businesses in reducing absenteeism, reducing recruitment costs, and
socially our products help families and the wider society.
Today we are offering 30% off our IBS Audio Programs, in
part to celebrate 15 years helping people in 47 countries, but additional
discount simply to help.
Also we are offering 50% discount off our MP3 download ofLaid off Move On, our self help audio program for those who have been made
redundant.
And also a 20% discount off our Confidence and Self Esteem
MP3 downloads.
Of course we wish it could be more, but we are doing what we
can to help. How many others are doing the same?

Each moment an end and a new begining
Adapted from my Anxiety Audio Program 120
When we are facing difficulties in life, however we feel in one moment, does not mean we will feel that way forever.
When we feel down and
depressed, or pressured and worried, or in pain or feeling lonely or unsure, remind
yourself it won’t always be like this.
And I can tell you why
too. We, as human beings, are always
changing. Every moment is an end and a new beginning.
![]() |
| Anxiety Audio Program 120 |
We are constantly
changing. You have never in your life
had as much experience, knowledge, skills, talents or gifts as you do now. Ever!
And each moment we are
changing. If you were to stop reading
this now, and go for a walk around your room or around the block, or into the
garden, you the person who stopped
reading this article, would not be the same exact person who come back to
finish reading this blog.
You would be different, perhaps
only slightly, but the fact is you would have changed. If you went into the
garden, you would see the flowers; feel the sun or the rain or the wind, the
pressure of your steps, the sensation of movement and thousands of other things
besides.
So your experience in the
garden changed you, gave you more knowledge, sensations, awareness, thoughts
and lots of other things too.
This process is going on all
the time, reading this article is changing you, everything we do, think and say
changes us, adding to our experiences, knowledge and much more.
So by that simple example you
can identify that you are constantly changing. You made a decision to read this
blog, so you are consciously helping yourself to change, changing your outlook,
expectations and knowledge base. By
changing these things you change your perspectives too.
By now you will perhaps have read
something new, something for you to think about or consider. And when you think about what has been
suggested, it can be understood that we are constantly changing and the way we
are at one moment in time does not have to remain that way into the next moment
of time, so do look forward to change, look forward to understanding that the
way you think and feel constantly changes.
If we think differently we
change the way we feel. So all that
said, allow yourself a little time to consider what you have read, just
consider it, and if it makes some sense then use this information to help
remind yourself that current difficulties, or future, will not last for ever.
If what you have read makes no sense, then at least you had to consider this
information and the reasons why you reject it, but either way, it will have
changed you!

The light at the end of the tunnel!
In my recording ‘Reflections on Life’ I mention that common phrase used by people when they are hopeful of a positive outcome “the light at the end of the tunnel”
When people are in a low mood
particularly when they are working through a major life issue, or many smaller
issues at the same time, or having to cope with their IBS, or pain, or anxiety
or whatever life has thrown at them they sometimes use the phrase ‘ I can’t see the
light at the end of the tunnel’
You might have heard that
phrase or might even use it yourself.
Well if you do, here’s a thought for you to consider.
Consider that statement, ‘I
can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel’ and then imagine it.
Take a few moments and just imagine it, right now.
Having done that, it is
likely that you imagined the tunnel, as being long, dark and straight, perhaps
like wading through treacle with the hope of a glimmer light at the end.
Well if that is the image you
conjured up then imagine in your thoughts, grasping it, screwing it up and
throwing it away.
Because ever since you were
born, you have not had (or rarely had) a
long straight journey in your life.
Journeys through life are a series of peaks and troughs, lefts and
rights, twists and turns and ups and downs.
Because of this we can remind
ourselves that there is rarely any incentive to tread a long, dark tunnel in
the vague hope of reaching some sort of flicker of positive light at the end of
it.
To imagine the journey like
that makes it even more difficult to keep motivated, resolute and focussed on recovery
or getting through the difficult issues; in fact this image often leads to self-sabotaging
thoughts.
So think about this journey
differently! By thinking about this
journey like the other journeys you have
had through life, as a series of ups and downs, peaks and troughs, lefts and rights,
twists and turns.
By doing this you only have
to take a few steps forward and then look left or right and that’s where the
light may be, since light does not travel around corners, you can never be sure
if the next step in your journey is when you will see the light.
This makes the most difficult
of journeys easier to deal with emotionally.
You might be so close to a
solution to the problem, to feeling better in mind and body, happy in your
outlook on life, more focussed, more determined. All these and more could be
just a step away, not a long tiring trudge in the dark tunnel of uncertainty.
Life is like a good book, the
next page, or chapter bringing new excitement.
The light of hope, change or learning could just be just around the
corner waiting for you. And as each moment is an end and a new beginning, you
can look forward with expectancy of better things to come.
No longer sabotaging yourself
with that old dark tunnel, but now looking for the light much closer to you,
which you might discover in the next few moments of life….

Go for your own Gold Medal
As I write this on a dark wet and windy summers morning in July
my mind wonders to the Olympics and the gradual build up to the greatest
sporting even in the world. A competition
of the very best athletes coming together to take part in 300 events, all of
them dreaming of winning a gold medal. It is expected 147 national will take part in
the Paralympics too.
This event is where medals can be won or lost in a fraction
of a second. The difference of being a gold medallist and a bronze medallist can
be thousandths of a second, a fraction of a moment which can affect an
individual for the rest of their lives. To become a household name overnight,
or forgotten in moments. A place where comparisons are made, who is the best,
the fastest, the most agile, who has the best stamina, and so it goes on.
| Anxiety Audio Program 120 |
However it isn’t just at the Olympics that this constant comparing
goes on, it goes on in everyday life. Many individuals compare themselves to
others wishing they had the talents, skills, looks, position at work, or money
of someone else, and yet I believe this thinking is flawed. Many people look out at what others have or
can do, rather than looking at themselves more closely.
We are all individuals, and if we are individual, that means
we are a one off, we are unique. And if we are unique, then there is no one
like us, and if there is no one like us, we cannot compare ourselves to others.
So why do we so often go through life trying to do so?
![]() |
| IBS Audio Program 100 for Adults. |
Instead we should consider comparing ourselves, to
ourselves! It isn’t as strange as it might initially seem. I often ask my clients to put themselves on a scale
from zero to ten. Zero being the worst (when we first met) to ten being the
very best they can imagine. By doing so
each time we meet, we can gauge the improvements that our working together
brings. As they go higher up the scale,
the more improvements they are noticing in themselves. Their focus becomes more
about making positive changes to themselves, releasing and letting go of things
no longer needed, and building new skills and belief systems.
| Confidence & Self-Esteem |
Each moment is an end and a new beginning, a significant
change or new belief or understanding can happen in a heartbeat or even
quicker, in a mere moment of time. Putting energy into changing and adapting
helps us to move on in life more easily. Of course many times is has to be
worked at, discipline, commitment and focus are all needed, but it is worth it.
So unless you are preparing for the Olympics, consider
focusing on your own uniqueness, look at pushing barriers and limitations,
learning new skills and understandings and developing your own uniqueness. That
way, you too will eventually feel how it feels to be your very best. You may
not be an Olympic athlete and you may never win a gold Olympic medal, but you
may well find that you can be perfectly you!

Hypnotherapy solutions to help those affected by economic climate
Confidence and Self EsteemThe start of a New Year. For most 2012 will be a testing time.
Newspapers and news reports are full of doom and gloom, austerity
measures taking effect, reducing spending power of families, jobless numbers rising and the outlook bleak.
The current economic climate for most of the population
is going to be problematic, and it’s fair to say the challenges placed on
individuals, families and society in general will become greater.![]() |
| Anxiety Audio Program 120, structured self help audio program |
All these challenges will increase anxiety, impacting the general wellbeing of many of the population. Anxiety is rising and the drugs prescribed for the anxiety condition are rising too.
IBS Audio Program 100 |
| IBS Audio Program 100 for Adults. Trusted IBS Help since 1998 |
People with Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS will be affected as stress; demands and anxiety take their daily toll. The digestive system is a delicate system and responds quickly to stress and anxiety, mostly in a negative painful way.
Those who have lost their job through involuntary redundancy
face many challenges as the private sector fails to increase job vacancies to
mop up the redundancies in the public sector, though if there were less red
tape and interference in SME’s the story could quickly change, as SME are vital
to the country getting out of this current economic mess.
And yet, all is far from lost. Each and every person has the ability to do something about their situation. Success rarely if ever comes knocking on your door, you have to go and find it. We have to change the rules of engagement. If we don’t have the confidence or self-esteem to make things change then do something to find it and develop it.
I started my internet business by re-mortgaging my family
home, because I believed in what I was doing and that was researching and developing
the IBS Audio Program 100, my first self-help audio program for adults, which
is now a leader in its field.
It was rejected out of hand by a leading London PR company
as being unmarketable; it now goes to 45 countries! Time after time it was rejected and yet I
persevered, and eventually the program took off and is trusted widely. A major
NHS referral hospital uses it, and self-help groups promote it.
I refused to accept the word no! I didn’t have the skills I needed so I
learned them; I saw a problem and decided I could do better than what was
available. I learned from people, I questioned things, and yet these are not
things only the few can do, each and every person reading this can make a
difference for themselves and their families, to their job prospects, if they
want to.
For me it wasn’t an option to do nothing, to simply wait for something to come to me. Of course those with IBS or Anxiety, or reduced confidence and self-esteem and those going through difficult times emotionally, need to deal with those issues first, before they can get the emotional balance, and the drive and motivation to make further positive differences. But once they have worked through those things in a structured way, then they can achieve whatever they want to achieve.
And in this first week of the New Year, I have instructed
that all my Self Help Audio Programs downloads are reduced by 20% in price, my
way of giving some support to those who really deserve to feel better, and
those who decide to make a difference for themselves, and their future.
Help your IBS the long, hard expensive and frustration way!
(Or take the short cut and use our way!)
You have been diagnosed with IBS, (you do need a diagnosis of IBS from a medical professional, since some of its symptoms can mimic more sinister conditions).
Your diagnosis is out of the way, You dutifully follow the advice and guidance, and medications given by your medical professional.
Then perhaps for the first few weeks / months you have hope,
but it fades as the medications, the repeat prescriptions and doctor appointments deliver very little benefit.A few more weeks / months down the line
you decide to get a second opinion / more tests / try something different. Little helps, and your concern mounts as a nagging feeling develops deep at the back of your mind, that this is not going to go away quickly / it might be with your for ever! After more time / tests / appointments / expense, you decide to try something else / anything to make a difference!
Hopes rise,
only to be dashed again, as the juices / potions / irrigation / over the counter medicines / are just not hitting the spot! The nagging that was deep in your mind is now at the forefront of your mind, will this ever get any better? You even consider quick fix promise products / snake-oil products / way out there stuff / obvious funnel sales sites, sucking you in slowly to make a sale, because there has to be something, out there, Doesn't there?
Your mood may be getting lower / relationships more difficult / lost days at work or college increase / you have spent a fortune and no closer to improvement.
The alarm bells are ringing, a reluctant resignation creeps into your life, you worry this is it, for the rest of your days, the pain, the urgency, the rushing, the bloating, constipation, deeper mood swings, tenderness, no light at the end of the tunnel, anxiety, life closing in, relationships strained after so many dashed hopes and so it goes on.
You either give up or keep searching.
But it doesn’t have to be this way, Okay you’ve heard this before, but not from me!
Did you know Hypnotherapy is recognised as a valid treatment option for IBS?(You might not know how words can help IBS let alone the physical / emotional aspects, but they can, and often do!)
Did you know in the UK Hypnotherapy is one of the recommended talking therapies RECOMMNEDED to DOCTORS to use with patients, by the National Institute of Clinical Health and Excellence (NICE) the body which governs medical treatment in the UK?
But, it suggests only after 12 months of non effective pharmacological treatment. Quite why it is seen as secondry treatment option, when it has so much evidence of being beneficial, and when many GPs and consultants admit they have little to offer in the longer term!
Did you know there is over 25 years proven, medical and scientific studies in the UK / USA and elsewhere showing hypnotherapy is a valid treatment option for IBS?
Okay, but they are all conducted in clinics, selected patients etc. Some might not consider it the real world.
Maybe, but our program has been proven in the real world with real people, many who have tried everything else, some referred, some stumbling upon us, many with multiple and diverse symptoms and backgrounds, but many found our IBS Audio Program helped them)
And did you know the leading IBS Audio Program is ours. The IBS Audio Program 100 which has 14 years proven h
(Successful, because it was developed over many years, by myself, who took the time to learn about the IBS condition, and after working with many patients successfully.
I worked with IBS patients when all else failed, when no one else would listen or believe / with those who had been referred to me with intractable IBS by the medical profession who recognised my approach worked for their patients.
I believe I was first to incorporate the importance of the emotional self into my program / Even now the importance of the emotional aspects of IBS are only just being recognised in some research quarters).
A program specifically developed for IBS sufferers.(It was specifically developed for IBS symptoms / of body / mind / emotions.
Now used in over 40 countries, a full home use course, no travelling / no appointments / no repeat costs, enjoyable & structured and cost effective)
And, for the first week in January there is 20% discount on the immediate download, and 10% off the CD sets.
So when you have tried everything else, when you really want to try one more time, then try our IBS Audio Program 100, many users wish they had used it first / but at least now you have found us!

Loss of Job has psychological implications.
In these times of increasing job losses, more and more women are feeling the impact of redundancy. There was a time when it was by and large men who filled the dole queues, but times have changed.
Women are being hit hard by job losses, because more women work now than used to. Now it is often out of necessity, not just the earning of 'pin money' as it used to be called.
With increased taxes, cost of living soaring, household and utility costs going through the roof it is no longer little luxuries that are earned, it is simply often a matter of survival.
With more women having well paid and senior level positions, the loss of a job can have serious implications to the household budget, mortgage payments etc.
And yet there are serious psychological implications of being made redundant too. It is bad enough if there is an earning partner to fall back on, but for many working woman, there isn't, and if there is the woman may be the higher wage earner.
Shock, panic and a serious shaking of confidence and self esteeem is often felt. So redundancy is more than just about the loss of income, it is also about the emotional impact redundancy has on the individual too.
However it is also a time for re-evaluating career direction too.
It is important that the emotional impact of redundancy or being laid off whatever term is given to it, is dealt with properly, and in a structured way.
There are reports of ten or more people chasing each job vacancy. It is important that you make yourself as marketable as possible. And that includes being positive, flexible in attitude as well as working methods. It means putting the disappointment of redundancy behind you, and to be emotionally well balanced, energetic and keen to learn.
People with IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and anxiety may often experience increased symptoms, compounding the impact of being jobless.
Future employers will be looking for individuals who can fit into the current work model, for those who will not need to much 'hand-holding', someone who will be able to contribute to the new employer quickly. Searching for as job, you will need clear thinking drafting your CV, and in interviews.
An aid to all this, is the self help audio program 'Laid Off, Move On' or LOMO from Healthy Audio Limited, the distributors of the acclaimed IBS Audio Program 100 for adults, and Emotional Recovery after Breast Cancer, and many more.
LOMO, was produced specifically for people who have lost their jobs due to redundancy. It is for men and women who want to put the disappointments behind them, and deal with the loss of job, deal witht the guilt, and lack of confidence and many other emotions losing a job brings.
The program is available on CD set, or on immediate download.
More information can be viewed here.

Avoid Self Destruction ~ Saying Yes to You!
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist in practice I work with clients presenting all kinds of problems and conditions, such as IBS, Anxiety, Emotional issues, bereavement, confidence and self esteem, depression, insomnia and much more besides. I may also do some counselling work which weaves in nicely with any hypnotherapy sessions taken.
“Who is the most important person in your life at the moment” is a question I often ask my patients.
They stop talking, they peer at me looking for clues what to say, but all I want is an honest answer to what is after all a simple question. And given they are in my practice room, a safe, non judgemental environment where honesty is expected, the answer generally is indeed an honest one.
When they start telling me who the most important person in their life is, I raise both hands and count off the people they mention, encouraging them to name more names, husband or wife, children each one adding to the raising number of digits, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends even the cat, dog budgie sometimes, each one adding to the number of fingers I display to them as they speak.
When they get to 10, and sometimes it is much less than that if they stall answering the question, in those cases I given them more times and usually they add a few more.
I then ask another question, do you remember the question I asked you?
Yes, they reply, it was “who is the most important person in your life at the moment” often said with pride.
My next question often however brings an important point to light.
Still holding my raised hands in front of them, with all fingers and both thumbs outstretched I ask “and where are you in this list”? And of course the vast majority understand straight away, they have ignored themselves; their own needs put to one side. This is laudable, but often detrimental to them.
I say to them, “we found quite quickly (and it often only takes 1 minute) 10 people which if anything happened to you, a hole would be ripped out of their lives. This is a sobering thought.
All too often we as individuals do not notice the importance of our lives in the lives of others, so often we say no to ourselves so we can say yes to others. Even when we know we are saying yes and no in the wrong places!
This is, as I said earlier laudable, but if you think about it, it makes no sense. Of course we have to be flexible at times, we have to do things we don’t want to do, I am not advocating complete selfishness, but we have to recognise that we can say yes and no where we want it to fit, we should take time out for ourselves and say yes to ourselves, so we can feel better, contribute more in the longer term, be more relaxed and rested in mind, body and emotions.
During these difficult social and economic times, we need to look at every which way we can be at ease with ourselves, to regain our confidence and self esteem, to be more relaxed, to find ways of enhancing our relationships with others and finding ways to help us be who and what we are capable of being.
The airline industry presents us with a great example of this.
Anyone who has flown and taken some interest in the safety procedures demonstrated by the cabin crew pre take off, will no doubt have noticed that adults are instructed in the case of any emergency where oxygen masks drop down in front of passengers, it is important that adults put on their oxygen masks before aiding their children with theirs. It makes perfect sense, you as the responsible adult can help your child much more effectively if you are not gasping for every breath; oxygen starved trying to help your child before you pass out, in which case your child will not stand much of a chance without you.
This much more dramatic example portrays the importance of looking after ourselves. In my office I come across people who are doing a slow motion version of not putting their masks on. They are struggling to help others while they are slowly driving themselves to despair, distraction and destruction.
And so it is we take responsibility for what we choose to do, and what we choose not to do.

New Year New Start
2010 and an observation
After a well deserved break I returned back to the office seeing patients and working on Healthy Audio Limited projects in mid January. This is the first opportunity I have had to say Happy New Year, although belated no lesser meant than if said on the 1st of the month.
I am amazed at how quickly time passes, February in just couple of days. There is so much to do, patients to help, planning and development and lots more besides.
I do hope that we don’t talk ourselves into more economic decline, though the US economic figures released yesterday show growth, the UK certainly has some way to go at a mere 0.01% growth.
I am puzzled how, in the UK at least, we have to have two consecutive quarters of economic decline to say we are in recession, and yet only one quarter to say we have come out of it! I am sure there are greater brains than mine which will have an official reason (whether it will hold logic though that is another thing) for this but I am yet to learn it.
As a therapist however, I and many therapists like me are at the ‘coal face’ working with the human cost of recession and economic decline. It is not only the economy a recession breaks, but also people, families and societies.
Economists speak of possibly 3 million unemployed in the UK in 2010, it is a frightening number, but all the more frightening when we remember that figure represents individuals. Lost jobs, lost homes, dreams, relationships.
That is what I see in my working day, and the ill health which these bring, the higher stress and anxiety, the drops in confidence and self esteem, the fear and worry in peoples eyes, looking, searching for solutions to problems not of their own making.
The anger aimed at greedy bankers and uncaring and allegedly dishonest politicians many of whom in the UK at least are simply waiting for their pay off when they leave office, leaving the whole sorry mess behind for others to clear up.
There is an injustice somehow to a recession, the innocent and hard working individuals and families paying the price for the recklessness of those who should know better, those in trusted positions having betrayed that trust of the people.
While the bankers are out of voters reach, politicians are not, and with a general election due in the coming months, it is any ones guess what the outcome will be. But I suspect the long memories of the millions of economic victims will play a key role in their decision making at polling booth. I know from the patients I work with, they are itching to exercise their right to be heard.
Whatever 2009 brought to your life, I do hope 2010 brings you the best of your dreams and aspirations, and that things get better for us all.

Learning from 2009

As the few remaining days of 2009 tick by, I wonder how this year, and the last decade will be viewed by history. I wonder how history will view world events; view our country, our politicians, and our society? I wonder if we will be brave enough to look at ourselves and what we have and haven’t done.
Time will tell, I hope our leaders will learn from it. I hope we as individuals will learn from our past too, because it is only by remembering our past actions and our inaction that we can feel sure footed enough going into our future. As long as we learn from the mistakes, and avoid them in the future, as long as we build on the positive times, we can move into the next year and decade better than we leave this one.
Those of us who take an interest in the news headlines and look a little deeper, will not be surprised that our society is going to have some testing times over the coming few years. Economically we can expect hardships, those who are hoping to avoid those hardships will, in the main be disappointed, for only a small percentage of individuals will be untouched by the pending economic storm.
For the rest of us, it will be a case of heads down and hard work. We will need to develop innovative products and services for our businesses to survive. We will have to learn self development methods to meet the challenges which will inevitable be faced, and we will have to take responsibility for our selves.
None of the above however is beyond us; we are more than capable of meeting the economic storm which is gathering. We have done so in the past, and we will do so again. On a personal level, I developed my IBS Audio Program 100 because there was a real need for it, and the many other programs I have developed over the years were developed because there is a real need for them. Some of them I hope will be used to help us to rise to the challenges to come. Dealing with the disappointments and negative emotions of being made redundant is an obvious example. Developing greater confidence and self esteem will be necessary for many people. Dealing with anxiety should be high on the to do list too. For those who struggle with irritable bowel syndrome IBS and its physical and emotional symptoms may well find the symptoms become worse during stressful times and events and considering new options of choice may be needed.
Every day of my working life I meet and work with people who are prepared to learn, to let go of old negative thought patterns, who invest in their own self development, learning to meet challenges in their every day lives and relationships.
Meeting the challenges of highly stressful events at work, and out of work, I work with people who have chosen to take responsibility for them selves, and to help themselves to live a happier, more comfortable and more balanced life.
Some of them come from difficult backgrounds and up bringing, others just setting out on life, in their teens and early twenties but all of them exhibit one thing, a common thread through them all, and that is one of an inner strength, an inner resource which has helped them to over come, sometimes even the word survive is not to strong for some of their journeys, but that strength is there, and they have chosen to use it to help them to move on, to something better, and invariably they are successful, because they know and realise that they can do, and be better, than they are when we first meet.
And that same strength I believe is in each and every one of us. I believe that each and every one of us, regardless of background can achieve more, if we first identify the need and desire to move on, and then act upon it. Finding what we need to help us to move on, identify what we want to achieve and then find the help, in whatever form to help us be more balanced and productive human beings.
So when we see the headlines in the papers and on the news in the coming months, let us remind ourselves that headlines sell papers, and grab attention, but let us remember that we can choose to be victors or victims, we can choose to wait and see, or we can choose to go out and grab what we want, and as long are we are not scared of hard work, and don’t always expect a quick fix, if we have patience, but also a drive to move on, then we can look forward to something better.
I see the possibilities very day with patients, and receive emails from people using my programs who have trusted themselves to make a difference. And usually it all starts by acknowledging the past, and learning from it, and then moving on in a different way to create a better life for themselves and their families, and therefore a better future too. And this often ripples out and touches those around them too.
My hope for 2010 and beyond is that we use what we have learned from the past, to map a better, brighter future for ourselves and society in general.

2010 the begining of the Decade of Anxiety
One newspaper article today has called the next decade ‘the decade of anxiety’. With the continuing demands and pressures which most ordinary individuals have been facing through much of last year, all of this year, and with the same or worse to look forward to over the next few years it might be a fair comment.
But, I really do hope that we don’t talk ourselves into even more doom and gloom, we seem to have done a good job of doing that when the recession was looming, all the headlines of doom and gloom, the widely off the mark projected deaths due to swine flu which fortunately were drastically reduced when level headedness returned, all contributed to high levels of anxiety in the general population.
However it is fair to say the next few years will be difficult for most of us, anxiety will be running high, especially if interest rates start to rise in the spring as predicted. Unemployment rates are also not expected to get any better in the next 12-18 months, even if the UK comes out of recession soon.
So I can see the foundations of the statement of the decade of anxiety, but one thing the writer did not mention is what we can do for ourselves. We can help our selves, we don’t have to simply sit by and let circumstances over take us. For those who do feel anxious help is available though my Anxiety Audio Program 120, a major self help anxiety treatment program.
For those that are jobless, the first step to getting back into employment or self employment is to acknowledge the negative and harmful emotions that are so often associated to being laid off, if these are not acknowledged there is a risk of secondary or causal depression to creep in, sabotaging recovery and ability to move one. My Laid Off, Move On program was developed specifically to help in such situations.
For many, whether employed or not, confidence and self esteem are often affected by circumstances at home, in the work place or due to economic or social circumstances. Without confidence and self esteem life can be difficult, self limiting and self sabotaging. See my confidence and self esteem program to help you structure a new or re-learned approach to developing your confidence again.
2010 will be full of opportunity as well as some challenges and it is for each and every one of us to embrace the opportunities, and equip ourselves with the skills to enhance our already existing talents, gifts and knowledge to help us overcome or get around the challenges.
Whatever you do this Christmas, I wish you peace and happiness and good health and prosperity in the New Year.

Anxiety Treatment Hypnosis
Late last week I received a wonderful email from a

user of my Anxiety Treatment hypnosis program. I was delighted with this feedback which captures, what I wanted to achieve when I developed the program. The user as you will read below has not yet completed the program, but I suspect she can look forward to more benefits.
Hi Mike, Just wanted to say thanks for the anxiety programme I am really enjoying it and find I can really relate to all the things you say! Although not yet finished it I thought I would send an update. I found the resource libraries very good and explanations you give are an excellent description of the way it sometimes feels! Basically it feels as though the whole programme was written for me personally! When I get my dizzy spells I just think to myself its only anxiety its just a thought! I have made some positive progress feeling a lot more confidant
On the whole I am feeling pretty good still have bad days but they are just that days as opposed to weeks. Thanks again ~Laura B Cheshire England

I think it is important for all those who are anxious and see no way out of their anxiety feelings to understand that there are options. I suspect this program will be used as a last resort by many users, this was the case with my IBS Audio Program 100 in the early days. For some it is difficult to understand how just listening to a CD can help. (This program is 6 CDs, or MP3 download, contains 2 resource library tracks, 2 familiarisation tracks, 10 interlinked sessions, a listening schedule, symptoms check list and other relevant information for the user.
The very short answer I give people when I am asked about this is as follows.
It's really quite simple, each and every thought creates a physical response, so if you change the thought you change the response. If you change the thought of expectation you change the response too. If you choose to think differently life too can be different.
So anyone who is suffering with anxiety and panic attacks,
1st: remember reading this,
2nd: bookmark my site, and
3rd: when the time is right (there is no hard sell on my site. Ever!) consider using it as
it might be the best thing you did to help yourself.

Retirement phobia & bad dreams
I worked with a lovely lady recently who had a couple of problems, one of bad dreams; the other was a phobia of retiring. She has been a high flying professional business lady, self employed and had built a successful business with an equally impressive reputation. I will let Wendy Edwards tell her story.
Please click her to see and hear her story
The reason I have posted this is to show hypnotherapy is a treatment option that is often overlooked. However the types of problems it can help with is as wide and diverse as we are individuals.
People think of hypnosis for smoking and weight loss. Many people know of my work treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) personally and through the successful IBS Audio Program 100 along with anxiety and breast cancer recover. But as Wendy attests the more unusual problems can be helped too.

Redundancy and being laid off
The news reports state more job losses, but the spin on the news is that the UK figures were not as bad as expected. This is no comfort for those who have been laid off redundant or for those who face the prospect of redundancy in the future.
In fact I was dismayed when I tried to get help from my local member of parliament (MP), who basically didn't answer any of my emails when I wanted help regarding my 'Laid Off Move On' audio set. This audio program was developed specifically to help those individuals affected deal with the emotional aspects of redundancy, the panic, anxiety, the mood swings, the lack of confidence, the feelings of guilt, self blame and much more. I simply wanted some guidance how to move on with this Audio CD set.
However not only were my emails ignored, our publicist's phone calls were not returned either. We are deciding how to respond to this, perhaps the answer is to just go to the national press and let them know about this apathy, but is there any news there given the public perception of most of our elected representatives at present?
Personally I find it beyond belief that a representative of the people is choosing to ignore the people, especially at these difficult times. There is plenty of hot air and spin on what is being done, but trying to quantify it is a different thing!
The program I developed is designed to help people to come to terms emotionally with redundancy, so they have the emotional energy and belief and drive to pull themselves up, to begin to look at CV preparation, to help them to a place where they can make good decisions regarding financial planning, to help them to be motivated to re-train and more.
All these are needed to help the individual and also society, but underpinning it all is the individuals own belief system and that is the foundation for growth, without it no matter how much the politicians want to make us belief they are helping, ignoring (or not even recognising it) this important aspect of individual growth, and thereby economic growth is folly. Not to mention the implications on other family members, economic costs and social costs.
I will continue to ask questions to those who are in a position to help me, and the many thousands who could benefit from this program, but I no longer expect any answers from the obvious areas.
However I do live in hope. And I do belief, despite the seeming apathy from some quarters, eventually I will be heard, since the message I have for the redundant jobless is too important to be ignored.

Redundancy
Having been made redundant in the early 80's in that recession I have a feeling and memory of what it is like to be redundant, out of work, laid off and all the other descriptors brought to this situation. None however seem to sum up what it really means.
It is not only the job that goes, it is the perception for many of reduced social standing, many find confidence and self esteem are impacted, ability and willingness to socialise are reduced. Quality of life can go down, memory and recall can be affected, emotions such as anger, guilt blame, shame, frustration, weepiness and many more besides can be experienced. For those who feel this way, consider clicking here, to read more about my Laid Off, Move On CD program set, specifically for this situation.
I wish you well, and a speedy journey back into employment.
Regards
Michael

Anxiety & Hypnosis
Anxiety / Anxious
These are those terms we use far to easily, like stress, we use that term to easily in every day life too. It, she, him, that stresses me, I feel / felt anxious all to commonly used in every day communication. Yet it is something we should be careful about doing, because these words Anxiety / Anxious / Stress, can close an individual down, stop them going out, socialising and living life to the full. Their effects can ripple out and touch the lives of partners and children, friends and work colleagues.
These conditions make life miserable, truly miserable for the sufferer, I know because I work with these conditions almost every day of my life, and have in the past experienced first hand the impact of them. And because of this, I decided to do something about it. Just as I did in the past when I decided to do something about the effects of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome and made a difference to the lives of thousands of people in the process. Just as I did when I developed the CD An Aid to Emotional Recovery After Breast Cancer. I do not find it an option to do nothing.
So, I developed the Anxiety audio program 120, the largest program I have ever undertaken, and I am pleased to say it is having the desired effects on users. It is heartening too to know that making a difference to the user, will ripple out positively to those supporting the anxiety sufferer. And that has to be good.
To all those who suffer with anxiety, be aware that all things are transient, they will pass. Remember too each moment is an end and a new beginning, and that simply means just because we feel anxious one moment, doesn't mean it will remain that way.
I wish you all well
